 White Blood Cells (Leucocytes) 


WBC:- Soldiers of the body have larger blood cells They contain nuclei and some granules in the cytoplasm these are immune cells, that fight against infection in the body.


Normal Count:-

types of WBCS


                        Leucocytes

Granulocyte                              ┃ Agranulocyte

-> Neutrophil (3000-6000/μL) ┃  -> Monocyte (300-600/μL)

-> Eosinophils (150-300/μL)    ┃ -> Lymphocyte (1500-2700/μL)

-> Basophil (10-100/μL)           ┃ 


At Birth:- 20,000/μL.

Adult:- 4,000-11,000/μL


Leucopenia:- TLC count decrease less than < 4,000/μL


Causes:- 

(1). Starvation (due to hunger)

(2). Typhoid Fever

(3). Viral infection

(4). Bone marrow suppression


Leukocytosis:- T.L.C count increase above 11,000/μL.


Causes:- 

1). Newborn(Normal 20,000/μL) 

2). In the evening (minimum count seen in the morning).

3). High Exercise

4). After injection of epinephrine norepinephrine

5). Stress

6). Pregnancy

7). Administration Eg. Steroid

8). Any pyogenic or pyrogenic infection.


Leukemia (cancer condition):- Leukemia is a cancerous condition of blood in which T.L.C is usually more than > 50,000/μL.
