Cells of Stomach
Four different types of cells make up the gastric glands.
There are four secretory epithelial cells
These cells are:-
(1). Mucous cells
(2). Parietal cells
(3). Chief cells
(4). Endocrine cells or G-cells
(1). Mucous cells:- Secrete an alkaline mucous that protects the stomach lining against stress and acid.
(2). Parietal cells:- Secrete HCL(Hydrochloric acid).
(3). Chief cells:- Secretes Pepsin, a proteolytic enzyme.
(4). Endocrine cells or G-cells:- Secretes the hormone gastrin.
